How do I use Secure FTP instead of the standard FTP transfer method?

Parcom supports Secure FTP transfers to our current control panel based plans.  To use this transfer method properly we highly suggest you use this product: http://www.parcom.net/store/parcom_store_software_ftp.htm

FTP Voyager by Rhinosoft is the product of choice and what is designed to work with the Parcom secure FTP system that is installed on the latest control panel based systems.    We have arranged a modest discount from the company that makes it for Parcom customers only.   As an added bonus Parcom also gives you free Parcom credit for purchasing the product!    With this you can enjoy fully encrypted FTP transfers to your account.   Safe and secure.

Tech note: There are no special settings required when using this product.   If you choose to try another FTP product to do the same secure FTP transfer then Parcom cannot guarantee nor support such products.   Our system is designed to work 100% with FTP Voyager.

When I sign up for web hosting, what will I receive?

You will receive an e-mail with complete information on how to access your site, detailed information on how to move an existing domain to our network, and you will also receive basic information on how to create new e-mail accounts.   If you require us to register a domain for you, you will need to fill out the following form:  Register Domain

How long does it take for my domain to point to Parcom if I used another registrar?

It can take as long as 72-96 hours to point your domain to our network from another registrar.  Unfortunately, some can take longer than that.   This is not something within our control, rather it is due to many factors like your registrar's turn around time, your need to authorize the move, and the possible need for your old host to authorize the move as well.   If you use Parcom as your domain registrar the turn around time is much faster.

Does Parcom provide web development support?

In order to keep our service prices low for our clients,  Parcom generally does not offer free web development or scripting support.   Clients can opt to discuss their web development issues within our free support forums or contact a local web designer or programmer for assistance.

Do I have to put a Parcom banner on my site?

No.   We do not require advertising on your site at all!    If you wish to display a Parcom banner or logo, please visit our banner page.  Parcom does appreciate the advertising that many of our trusted clients do for us - and because of that, we can succeed and continue to maintain the best service possible to everyone.

Parcom currently does not have to advertise since we get our business from just referrals and resellers.

How can I get the DNS information to move my domain?

For security, you must be a Parcom customer to receive this information.  Customers who sign up for hosting receive this information so they can update their domain registration information.   If the customer uses Parcom for domain registration, this is taken care of automatically.

Does Parcom support Macintosh users?

Absolutely!   Parcom has a very large Macintosh user client base.   Although we do have a majority of PC users based on support statistics, but our knowledge base is growing slowly but surely for our Mac clients.  Some of this growth is due to helpful clients willing to help us make our Mac support be the best anywhere.

If your web publishing software supports standard FTP then you should have no problem.  (Practically every major web publishing software works with our network).

Parcom gives me more than enough space, can I get a discount if I use less?

No.   Our plans are set and standardized.   This gives you room to grow and having additional breathing room for your account can be a great benefit.   Standardization assures customers continued low pricing for years to come too.

Never think of space as the only deciding factor for choosing a service level!  Each service level is different and based on many other features too.

I want to host many domains under one account, can I do that?

Yes, but only with our current plans ($3.99, $6.99, $9.99, and $19.99 plans)   These plans can have 2, 3, 4, and 6 FULL domain accounts within each plan respectively.  Please note, the initial domain is the only one automatically included in the package.  The additional domain resources can be added as an extra feature in your control panel for a nominal fee.

How do I change contact information or ownership of a web account?

You will need to submit the following form.  https://secure.parcom.net/forms/update_contact_form.htm

Note: This is to change ownership of a web site account, not the domain.   To change ownership for a domain, please contact our support staff via our support request form.

FTP is slow or not working right, what do I do?

You need to switch your FTP software client to not have passive mode (PASV off).   This will increase performance as well!   So please turn this off if you can.    We also suggest making sure port 21 and 20 are open on your firewall or personal firewall to make sure ftp performance is at its peak.   If you are not comfortable making this change, please at least allow these ports to work from you to your site at the very least.  You can also allow the IP of your server explicitly too.   We have found that doing so can really make FTP work better than any other host if you follow these tips.

This is all due to the growing trend and changes to personal and corporate firewalls that are more plentiful today.   Since Parcom maintains an extremely secure network like no other hosting company, it can also be due to a firewall to firewall issue (yours to ours) - again easily solved with the above tips.

Note: Do not change a thing if your FTP client software works by default.

Can I get a feature of the highest end plan but only want the entry level plan?

Many customers ask for this actually.   A common scenario is when a customer wants SSL (or the ability to have secure credit card transactions via a shopping cart) but say they do not need the space or the  other features of the highest level.    The customer typically tells Parcom they only need the "Space" of the entry level service.   The answer is no to this request because what typically is available on the higher level plans is more than just space, rather the resource allocation, the processing power, and everything associated with the higher end plans to accommodate such features.   How much space you use is completely irrelevant in other words.   Another example is the promise to use only very few e-mail accounts to request the use of the higher end features.  This too is not negotiable.   In short, if you need a particular function of a higher end plan you must sign up or upgrade to that plan.   Besides, our pricing and features set are so hard to match by any competitor too!

Can I resell Parcom accounts?

Yes.  To be a reseller you must join the Parcom authorized reseller program to be able to resell any of our services.

Do I get multiple accounts with the new plans?

Each plan holds one primary domain and a number of aliases as you require!   Your control panel ID, however, can hold an unlimited number of plans though!   To add more accounts simply follow the directions here: http://kb.parcom.net/article.aspx?id=10074      

Need greater flexibility with more than two accounts?  Then consider using our reseller system to allow you more control and ability to provision resources to any combination you desire!   You must be use the reseller system if you plan to resell or simply need more control.
