Great Service at a Fair and Decent Price

Situation

When Kathi Phillips, the sole proprietor, of Compu-Tot-Games started having trouble with her previous host, it prompted her company to find another host immediately.  Asked about how Kathi Phillips found out or heard about Parcom and the response was, "I learned of Parcom when I spent several days searching the internet for a new host when the previous host I used started being more trouble than it was worth--things like double billing, site down for days at a time, control panel not functioning, user name and password not recognized, etc.  I must have checked nearly a hundred [web hosting companies].  It was down to three when I decided to start emailing specific questions that were not answered on the websites."

Solution

What finally and overwhelmingly made Kathi Phillips choose Parcom was when she sent an email with questions via the website to Parcom early on a Saturday morning (about 3:00 A.M.).  This was during a federal three-day holiday weekend so Kathi Phillips was not expecting a reply from Parcom or any of the other web hosting companies until the following Tuesday.  However, she was pleasantly surprised to get a reply on that same Saturday morning from Parcom.  Then several emails passed back and forth that weekend with the various questions Kathi Phillips had.  "All of which were answered quickly by the person (Crazy Dave) who happened to be checking email that Saturday morning," added Kathi Phillips.  "Parcom was the solution to a problem I had," Kathi Phillips said further.

Compu-Tot-Games was started by Kathi Phillips as a hobby in August of 2001 and changed to a home business in October that same year.  Compu-Tot-Games has been enjoying the benefits of having Parcom as its internet presence provider for almost three years.

The main objective of the Compu-Tot-Games web site is for folks to learn about the games created and designed by downloading the demonstration versions.  There is a shopping cart for those who wish to purchase the full versions.  Compu-Tot-Games is planning to run an advertising campaign that will change the main focus from "showing off" the various games to an e-commerce site.

As to which features or services helps the most or liked by Compu-Tot-Games, here is what Kathi Phillips had to say, "as for what I like about Parcom: great service at a fair and decent price. The best is the unmetered bandwidth which allows me to place all my games on my site and not worry about how many folks download them (though I'd like to have the problem of being told I'm using too much bandwidth)."

In regards to added benefits from using Parcom, Kathi Phillips revels in the, "ease of uploading my files and accessing my account."  The Parcom Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus services have really helped Kathi Phillips' company.  "The Spam Filter has been marvelous.  I used to get a LOT of spam until I started using the Spam Filter offered by Parcom.  Prior to that, I was getting upwards of 250 spam emails a day--yes, a DAY.  Now, I get maybe one or two a week."  Continuing on with the ease of use Kathi Phillips said, "I like being able to set up email accounts using my domain."  About the delightful and helpful sharing of information among Parcom customers in the Parcom Community Forums, Kathi Phillips said, "the forum that is available for any and all questions is a plus.  The few minor 'problems' I've had were answered there--and turned out to be something on my end, not Parcom's."

One of Parcom's many great attributes is taking care of its customers by providing them with great support in a timely manner.  Kathi Phillips remarked that, "tech support is there if I feel I need it.  When I have contacted support, my problem was checked and dealt with in short order, sometimes a matter of minutes, regardless of whether the problem was my computer (most of the time) or Parcom servers (only once)."

Compu-Tot-Games currently uses no databases or extra scripting because the business is not large enough to need it, yet.  They keep track of customers "in a (gasp!) paper file," according to Kathi Phillips.  Hard copies still cannot be beat.  For selling purposes, Compu-Tot-Games currently use a PayPal shopping cart because that saves them the cost of a merchant's account for collecting payment using a credit card.

Regarding Compu-Tot-Games' prior host, their name was soon gladly forgotten after signing up with Parcom.  Ms. Phillips says, "I would waste a lot of your bandwidth explaining the troubles I had with them and how Parcom helped me with that situation."  To sum it up, Parcom came through with speed, stability, security and service.

Kathi Phillips does not skip a beat in suggesting Parcom to her friends, family members and business associates or to anyone else who mentions needing a hosting service that is good, reliable and inexpensive.  "I would and do.  I also have a Parcom Button with link on my home page," concluded Ms. Phillips about recommending Parcom.
